Liverpool may lose one of their major summer transfer targets to Chelsea according to the latest report.

The Reds are probably the busiest Premier League side this summer.

They have already secured the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, sold goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to Brentfor, and are reportedly close to the signing of Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz.

Should the three deals be completed, it could take spending this summer alone to over £200m.

However, the Reds are likely not to stop there as there is still a need for a center forward this summer.

9 that will take the place of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, and French forward Hugo Ekitike is one of the names Liverpool are said to be considering.

The 22-year-old French forward has emerged as a candidate for the striker position as it looks like Newcastle United will retain Alexander Isak after qualifying for the Champions League.

Ekitike has enjoyed a remarkable campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards.

The Frenchman has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances, while contributing four goals in Frankfurt’s Europa League campaign.

His overall tally of 22 goals across all competitions has attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs.

Liverpool are said to have held talks with him, despite the massive sum Eintracht Frankfurt want for him.

The Bundesliga’s side valuation of their star striker has steadily increased throughout the season, rising from an initial €80 million to a potential €100 million fee.

However,  Liverpool may not get a chance to sign him as Chelsea are advanced in their pursuit of him.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Blues are “pushing to finalize the deal for Ekitike.”

However, the journalist maintained that despite Chelsea’s desire to finalise the deal, Liverpool are still keen on the player and could make a move.
